Cheese and Halloween don’t usually belong in the same sentence, but Aldi is out here proving they absolutely do. Starting September 30, the Emporium Selection Halloween Cheese lineup is landing back on shelves, and it’s every bit as gloriously weird as it sounds. Four wax-wrapped wheels, four spooky names, and one very good excuse to build the most chaotic charcuterie board of your life for $4.29 a pop.

If you’ve been stocking up on Aldi’s Bake Shop Pumpkin Sandwich Cookies already, consider this your savory follow-up. And if you’re the type who plans out the whole spooky-season snack table in advance, this belongs right next to your Ultimate Aldi Fall Shopping Guide pick list.

Four cheeses, four personalities

Here’s the lineup, and yes, the names are doing the most (in the best way):

  • Scary Pumpkin Spice — a Wensleydale spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, wrapped in a thick orange wax that mimics an actual pumpkin rind.
  • Death By Garlic — cheddar blended with black garlic, for anyone who thinks “spooky” should also mean “your coworkers can smell you coming.”
  • Freaky Franken Sage Derby — a Derby cheese folded with dried sage, giving it green veining and a genuinely herby bite. Shoppers online have called this one “amazing,” full stop.
  • Bat Knit Crazy Cheddar — a classic sharp cheddar in bat-and-pumpkin packaging, for the purists who just want good cheddar with a costume on.

“The packaging is fun, but it’s also genuinely really good cheese.” — a repeat Aldi Halloween cheese shopper

This isn’t Aldi’s first spooky rodeo, either. The Emporium Selection Halloween cheese range has quietly built a cult following over the past several years, disappearing and reappearing every fall like clockwork — and shoppers keep asking for it to just stick around all year.

How to actually use it

These wheels are small enough to buy all four without blinking at the receipt, which makes them perfect for a Halloween-party grazing board. Slice the Scary Pumpkin Spice thin and pair it with apple slices for a sweet-and-spiced bite. Let the Death By Garlic sit next to crackers and something acidic, like cornichons, to cut the punch. The Sage Derby plays nicely with honey or fig jam. And the cheddar? Just eat it. It’s cheddar in a costume — no notes needed.

If you’re already deep into Halloween shopping mode, these cheeses pair shockingly well with a haul that also includes Trader Joe’s $2.99 Halloween Mini Totes for handing out mini snack boards to guests, or Aldi’s own Truffle Arancini & Goat Cheese Bites for a hot appetizer to round out the table.

Don’t sleep on this one

Aldi Finds have a reputation for vanishing fast, and seasonal novelty cheese is exactly the kind of item that sells out before the second week of October. At $4.29 each, grabbing all four to sample is basically the price of one fancy latte — and infinitely more fun for a party table. Mark your calendar for September 30 and get to your local Aldi early if you want the full lineup.

Grab yours: Head to Aldi starting September 30 and look for the Emporium Selection Halloween Cheese display near the specialty cheese section — it tends to move fast once word gets out.
